Margot's 5 Necessities Beach Hair

Absolutely nothing beats a good beach hair moment. If I have the opportunity to jump in the ocean, soak up a little humidity, and use a few good products, I know I will have a good hair day. Aside from mother nature, these are the products I’ll bring on all beach shoots and trips to achieve my best hair.

A mini ouai wave spray pretty much travels everywhere with me. It’s crucial for beach trips to give my hair a little extra salty feeling if I don’t have the opportunity to get to the ocean.

I am, in fact, not a natural blonde, so to save my dry bleached hair when at the beach and in the sun I’ll use a really hydrating mask. Before heading down to the beach I brush it through damp hair and toss my hair up in a bun with a claw clip. Letting that sit for an hour or so before swimming is key. The combination of freshly hydrated hair and some crunchiness from the ocean is unbeatable. It also prevents you from leaving the beach with wild knots. I love the OG Davins mask because it works wonders and is easy to travel with.

I’m obsessed and willing to splurge on the Balmain Sun Protectant Spray. It smells amazing, is super light weight, and protects from sun damage. It's especially great for anyone whose hair turns brassy in the sun.

A chic wide tooth comb is always necessary in the beach bag. I love the Crown Affair comb - it’s small, adorable and beautifully made.

When I’m in the mood for a more polished beach hair look I turn to my trusty amazon crimper. With damp hair I’ll apply a heat protectant cream and then let it air dry or do a quick messy blow out. For the best tutorials on this device refer to tiktok. Then to give it a little more natural look I love to use BB brilliantine in it to break up the waves and give some shine.
